the whispering of their leaves quickly turned to shrieks of pain and fear. The wind sang of conquest and death, and pounded the forest with snow and ice.
Then the wolf emerged.
Its long mane of black fur rippled in the wind, and its eyes were the colour of the purest gold, indicating its great age. Its legs were lean and muscular from running, ears pricked, listening intently. It flicked its tail and then spread its jaws, tasting the air. The wind ceased instantly, dying down to a whimper. It blew about in apologetic circles around it, stirring the snow around its feet. The wolf ignored it, and then suddenly its eyes flared. Just the merest suggestion of his quarry's scent drifted onto its tongue, and it drank in the air, trying to detect any other remnants. Then it found the trail, and followed it. Behind it, ravens followed in the hope of having a meal of fresh meat. Then, as it reached the end of the path, it bared its teeth in what was unmistakably a savage grin.
The hunter had found its prey.
Wow! I think that this wolf is the protagonist in the story. In my opinion, your story can be a touching one, or a heart gripped one or even a horror. Nice description, certainly fits the taste of many readers!
ReplyDeletegreat setting! There is also a great use of personification. I think this story will talk about life, the harsh reality of life
ReplyDeleteI think it would continue with'And I found my prey too.' Then I believe that the wolf would actually turn out the be a 'wolfwere'(opposite of a werewolf) that has been hunting down innocent children for decades. Then the story would proceed on with an epic battle between the wolfwere and the main character(I).
ReplyDeleteInteresting setting! I think your story would be about animals and it would be an animal fiction story, something like white fang, talking about the encounters of the animal.

Rixin came the closest to guessing the storyline. If I were asked to continue the story, it would probably be along the lines of untamable wildlife, similiar to white fang or call of the wild. Possibly supernatural.
